The “Undiscovered Odessa” tour is an excellent way to get a little adventure before getting back to your cruise ship. The tour starts with a walk around historical quarter to see the famous sights. After exploring the main attractions we venture out to Odessa’s oldest market. There, you get an excellent insight into contemporary and past lifestyles of Odesseans. What’s more to it, we’ll see locals shop and the most adventurous guests can sample local food.
The trip back from the market goes through the area, which lies right across the road from the most popular part of the old town. Nevertheless, it is often missed by the city guests and is not mentioned in the guidebooks. It was once populated by the city’s first craftsmen, later by bohemian types: renowned painters, doctors and men of science, including Ivan Pavlov. It’s the area where the Fine Arts museum, the second in the world bacteriological lab and the Monument to the Orange are.
And if you want to hear a few stories about criminal Odessa (yes, Odessa used to be really infamous for its criminal world and could be easily called “Russian Chicago” of 1930s), you should definitely take our Undiscovered tour!
